Scorpio is the intriguing eighth sign of the twelve zodiacs and is the final sign we’ll explore in our twelve-part zodiac and cell salt series. While Scorpios are a water sign, they are deeply affected by fire. They share the planet Mars with Aries and rule the house of death, transformation, rebirth, and regeneration.
The month of Scorpio is recognized in the old Saxon language as Wind-Moneth – or Wind-Month – when the fishermen stopped working until spring. In the French Revolutionary Calendar, it was Brumaire or Fog-Month.
This sign begins on October 23 and runs to November 21, which includes the darkest and most frightening time of year, Halloween.
Halloween dates back to ancient Celtic times and is when ghosts and evil spirits slip through the thin veil that protects the living from the dead, demons, and other apparitions associated with death.
As a way to scare off, and perhaps blend in with these menacing creatures, we wear costumes – and in the ancient Gaelic Harvest, bonfires were lit.
Scorpio’s gems are topaz and malachite and its astral colours are golden brown and black. Malachite has long been recognized as a gem of protection and is often used to ward off the evil eye, while the color black has long been associated with the end of life as we know it on Earth, evil magic, and darkness.
But Scorpio also represents new beginnings and regeneration. As trees begin their dormancy in the autumn, or play dead, trees grow and produce new leaves in the spring and are a symbol of life. And so too is Scorpio.
Corresponding with its eighth spot among the twelve signs, Scorpio is allocated to the eight division of the human body and therefore represents the organs of procreation, which symbolize regeneration. Scorpio is also associated with the vascular system and the blood contained within.
When analyzing the 12 biochemic tissues salts, identified by Dr. Schuessler as the most essential minerals in the human body, American physician and astrologer George Carey matched zodiac sign Scorpio with the cell salt Calcarea Sulphurica or Calc Sulph.
In its crude form, this mineral is known as gypsum or sulphate of lime, or in plain English, calcium sulfate. In the body and as homeopathically prepared cell salt, it acts as a blood cleanser, furnishes a protective coating for the body’s tissues, and helps form and heal vascular coating and most notably the skin.
Let’s expand on the various ways in which this powerful mineral can be used and what it can do for our health and wellness.
Blood Cleansing and Healing Cell Salt Calc Sulph
Scorpio’s associated cell salt Calc Sulph is essential to cleansing the blood, forming pus, and reestablishing healthy tissues. When used in its raw form and mixed with water, it makes plaster of Paris.
When applied to grape vines, Calcium Sulfate is said to improve the color and quality of the grapes which contributes to their healthier skin and improved taste. In the human body, it provides a protective coating to all of its vascular surfaces.
Imagine the stomach lining and how it remains intact, this is because of the coating cell salt Calc Sulph provides. But the protection does not stop there, it is also present in our eyes, nasal passage, throat, mouth, and bladder.
A deficiency may lead to a burning sensation in the stomach, such as an ulcer. An easy way to imagine what a lack of Calc Sulph may cause within the body is to picture a blister, when the skin layers separate and give way to water, fluid, or pus.
Relief for this symptom can often be offered by a liberal dose of tissue salt Calc Sulph taken with warm water to soothe the insides and protect and help heal the intestinal surfaces.
Let’s now take a look at Calc Sulph’s most common deficiencies and how the addition of lime sulphate is vital to supporting your wellness.
Common Deficiencies and Best Uses of Cell Salt Calc Sulph
Cell Salt Calc Sulph for Acne, Boils, and Wounds
Calc Sulph helps the liver cleanse the blood and remove waste from the body. When there is a deficiency, waste cannot be expelled properly and can cause the skin to break out. This may result in pimples, boils, and other blemishes to appear.
A tissue salt Calc Sulph deficiency often causes yellow and red (blood-streaked) pus. It is therefore an excellent remedy for acne, specifically juvenile or teenage acne. Adolescents going through puberty are often deficient in this cell salt and can benefit from adding it to their skincare routine.
Scrapes, cuts, and festering wounds can also greatly benefit from tissue salt Calc Sulph helping clean, heal, and regrow skin from the inside out. You may consider combining Calc Sulph with cell salt Silica, another excellent remedy known to speed suppuration and help form and heal skin cells.
Cell Salt Calc Sulph for Colds, Sore Throats, Sinus and Ear Infections
When taken at the first sign of a discomfort or tickle in the throat, tissue salt Calc Sulph’s cleansing action can sometimes help stop the further development of a cold in its tracks.
Should you still come down with a respiratory infection, be sure to continue taking Calc Sulph especially during the final stage of your illness as this cleansing tissue salt will help rid the inflammation – including bronchitis, sinus infection, ear infection, and croupy coughs producing copious yellow mucus – from your body.
We love this tissue salt for its excellent action on the mucous membranes, helping with blocked ears and sinuses and helping you breathe and sleep when you need to rest and recover.
This is why Calc Sulph is a key component in our Cold & Relief Cell Salts Kit together with cell salts Ferr Phos, Kali Mur, Kali Suph, and Nat Sulph, each mineral focusing on one or more specific stages and needs during the development of a cold or flu.

Cell Salt Calc Sulph for Detoxifying
Another great way to benefit from the blood-cleansing tissue salt Calc Sulph is to make it part of a regular detoxification routine of the body’s waste elimination system.
This can be done several times per year for four to six weeks or anytime for a few days if you feel like coming down with something, experiencing sinus or stomach issues, sluggish digestion, bitter taste, poor sleep, pains or weariness and/or to circumvent infections.
We combined tissue salt Calc Sulph with cell salts Kali Mur and Nat Sulph in the AnnaKare Detox Cell Salts Kit to target and tone the body’s main elimination organs.
Tissue salt Calc Sulph cleanses the blood and skin while tissue salt Kali Mur supports the lymphatic system and ensures the fluids in the body are running smoothly. And tissue salt Nat Sulph helps with a healthy flow of bile, keeps the liver working properly, supports the bladder, and removes the body of excess water.
Take two squirts of each cell salt three times a day directly in the mouth or mix them with water. Increase your intake of fluids and focus on healthy, fresh foods to get rid of toxins and waste, reset and rejuvenate vital body functions, and discover an easy way to feel better and keep illnesses at bay.
The Scorpion: A Venomous and Deadly Creature?
Scorpio, or the Scorpion, is connected with some intriguing mythical stories. The first is the belief that the Scorpion constellation scared Phaeton – Apollo’s son – when he borrowed his father’s golden chariot causing it to crash. You can read the full story in our Leo and Cell Salt Mag Phos blog.
In another Greek myth, Scorpio is the creature that stung and killed the mighty Orion. Orion was a handsome and skilled hunter, but with this gift, he was also arrogant. To prove how great he was he shouted to the heavens that he wouldn’t rest until he had killed all wild animals on Earth.
Gaia, goddess of the Earth, heard his cry and in anger called upon the scorpion to slay the giant hunter. The scorpion, loyal to his goddess, set out to kill Orion. Despite Orion’s best efforts, he could not defeat the scorpion. When he turned to flee, the poisoned tail of the scorpion shot out and slayed the giant man.
Like in many of our Greek mythologies, to reward the scorpion for his feat and to forever shame Orion, Gaia cast Scorpio into the sky placing him beside Orion. As the stars move throughout the passing seasons, the scorpion continues his chase of the hunter Orion.
Scorpio Personality Traits
In many ways, the connections to venom, the loyalty to the Earth goddess Gaia, and the influence of Scorpio’s ruling planet Mars – which stands for anger as well as energy – show up in Scorpio’s personality and behavior.
Did you know?
“The possibilities of Scorpio people are boundless after they have passed through trials and tribulations.”
- George W. Carey in "Relations of the Mineral Salts of the Body to the Signs of the Zodiac"
In fact, there are three or four animals that Scorpio is associated with. These animals represent Scorpio’s evolution. The first is the scorpion. Here, Scorpios are at their least evolved. It is their instinct to protect themselves and they may lash out. This is often where Scorpios get their bad rap for being spiteful or jealous.
Next is the serpent, which isn’t always recognized as a separate animal or developmental stage because its character is very close to that of the scorpion. Serpents are sneaky, yet in a charming way.
Third is the eagle. This is where the famous loyalty of Scorpios comes into play. They also know how to keep their eye on the prize, as it is when they fly high up in the sky and benefit from the best view.
Last, is the Phoenix, where they transform from darkness into light and are reborn. The Phoenix beautifully represents Scorpio’s association referenced above with the change in the seasons, the annual transformation of nature, and the procreation of life on earth.
Here, they are the most evolved and will discover that they have a magical gift for creating something out of nothing. Scorpios are known as magnetic healers. Those born under this sun sign are also associated with bravery, faithfulness, and determination.
Final Celestial Thoughts
Deeply connected to destruction and transformation, Scorpio is even more so a strong promise of rebirth and rejuvenation. As a sign that can often feel as though its blood is about to boil over, the blood-cleansing, healing cell salt Calc Sulph is its perfect match.
Tissue salt Calc Sulph should be remembered as an integral part to any wellness routine when experiencing oozing wounds, boils, and acne; inflammation from a cold, sore throat, sinus or ear infection; or a need for detoxing and regenerating the body.
