What are Allergies?

Allergies are are among the most common medical disorders. It is estimated that 60 million Americans suffer from some form of allergy. An allergy occurs when the body's immune system overreacts to a usually harmless substance such as pollen, dust, mold, or insect bites. Symptoms include watery, itchy eyes, sneezing, congestion, and swelling of the skin.

Avoid Trigger Points

Begin by investigating the root cause of your allergies. When our body, mind, and emotions are functioning in an optimal state of balance, we do not over-react to foreign substances such as pollen or pet dander. Only if there is an imbalance, the immune system is left susceptible to outside intruders.

Consider the following questions: What triggers or aggravates your allergies? During what time of the day or month do your symptoms appear to be at their worst? What are your stress level and life circumstances at the onset of your allergy symptoms? What relieves the allergy symptoms? Do you observe any other unique circumstance or symptom? As you become more aware of your allergies, begin to reduce and avoid the trigger points.

Manage Stress

Rest, relax, de-stress, and watch your diet. As allergies are an immune system response, make sure you get enough sleep during the months of your most severe allergic reactions. Strengthen your immune system with gentle exercises. Yoga, breathing, relaxation techniques, and meditation are always recommended.

Watch your Diet

Finally, your diet is a key component of your health and a very powerful component in creating relief from allergies. Allergies are believed to originate from an acidic and toxic environment in the intestine and colon. This creates inflammation in the body, stressing the lungs and causing excess mucus. Always make sure you have a balanced diet by eating plenty of seasonal vegetables, fruits, and whole grains.

Seasonal Detox & Cleanse

Consider the practice of gentle seasonal fasting by avoiding refined sugar, flour, processed foods, dairy, meat, and wheat for a couple of weeks prior or at the beginning of each season. By avoiding some of these foods that stress the filters of our body such as the liver and kidney, the body will have time to propel excess toxins out of the body. A homeopathic detox formula will help flush out toxin build-up in your intestine, colon, and other emunctory organs.

Natural Remedies for Allergies

Enjoy a combination of homeopathic remedies, relaxation, healthy foods, and detoxification to find faster relief and reduce the frequency of your allergic reactions. As always, if your symptoms persist and your condition worsens, consult with a professional healthcare provider.
