Creamy, chocolatey, and filled with cherries, seeds, and nuts, these overnight oats bring together whole foods naturally rich in magnesium and phosphorus – a delicious breakfast inspired by the mineral composition of the Schuessler cell salt Mag Phos.
A Mineral-Rich Start Inspired by Mag Phos
Chocolate and cherries already make a beautiful pairing. Add oats, chia seeds, pumpkin seeds, almond butter, and creamy yogurt, and this overnight breakfast becomes an especially lovely way to bring more mineral-rich whole foods to the table.
The inspiration behind this recipe is Mag Phos, or Magnesia phosphorica, the magnesium phosphate cell salt traditionally associated with the nerves, muscles, tension, and relaxation.
One of our favorite ways to complement a cell salt practice is with whole foods that provide its nutritional mineral counterparts. For Mag Phos, that means magnesium- and phosphorus-rich foods – brought together here in a tasty breakfast.
AnnaKare Connection
At AnnaKare, we love looking at cell salts through two complementary lenses: traditional Schuessler wisdom and the nourishment we receive from whole foods.
Cell salt Mag Phos is used when muscles and nerves feel tense, tight, restless, or overworked.
From a nutritional perspective, magnesium supports normal muscle and nerve function, while phosphorus is an essential mineral involved in bones and teeth, energy metabolism, and many structures throughout the body.
That makes ingredients such as oats, cacao, pumpkin seeds, chia seeds, almonds, and yogurt a natural starting point for a recipe inspired by the magnesium + phosphorus components of Mag Phos.
And then there are the cherries – juicy, colorful, and just right for a late-summer breakfast.

Anna’s Tip
Try plain goat milk yogurt for a creamy, slightly tangy variation. Like Greek yogurt, it contributes calcium and phosphorus while bringing a different flavor and nutritional profile to the recipe.
The Mineral Story in Your Bowl
Magnesium: cacao, pumpkin seeds, chia seeds, almonds and almond butter, oats
Phosphorus: yogurt, pumpkin seeds, chia seeds, oats, almonds and almond butter
Calcium: yogurt and milk, with additional amounts contributed by ingredients such as chia seeds and almonds
The beauty of whole-food nourishment is that ingredients rarely bring only one nutrient to the table. This recipe may begin with the magnesium-and-phosphorus inspiration of Mag Phos, but the finished bowl naturally offers a much broader mix of minerals, protein, fiber, healthy fats, and plant nutrients.
That is exactly what we love about pairing cell sals with whole-food nourishment.
